Badly Drawn Boy - 'All Possibilities'

Just what a particularly firm kick up the backside might provide to Damon Gough's ever-droning vocal is a consistent wonder: a high-pitched Jacko-like shrill? A Cave-esque slump in the timbre? The reason the question proves so relevant is simply because - no matter the soundtrack - ole Damo seems as consistently enthusiastic as an antiques-salesman perusing the delights of Slipknot performing an impromptu live-set in his back-garden.

With 'All Possibilities' at least, you'd anticipate BDB to raise an octave or a mere eyebrow indicative of some form of enthusiasm, but - no - once again, it's glaring strings, beauteous, extravagant arrangements wrapped up in a scintillating pop-package more desirable than Kylie's arse on a plate. And just the same vocal-deliverance backing it. Oh well, if it ain't broke - don't even bother with the concept of innovation.
