Ashcroft at his epic, emotive finest, 'Check The Meaning' with its 'Too much blood/Too much hate... There's gotta be something more' sentiments can only be a winner.
So, although he may still lack the groove once possessed by his former incarnation when he served as frontman of The Verve, RA is still proving himself to be the masterful songwriter and composer of material that will tug the heart-strings of even the iciest of listeners. The whirling strings, subtle brass and Richard's own cracked, tender voice - the package may be familiar, but not one we're willing to give up on any time too soon.
