For the fact it's so devilishly simple and ludicrously infectious, with no less instant charm, Brendan Benson's latest foray into the singles-market seems more well-guided than perhaps correct for a man whose career to date has been so full of record-industry related set-backs and disappointments.
Yet, if the beauty of 'Metarie' is to teach us one thing at all - it's that Benson's luck is to change; where elegantly strummed chords and his own serenading croon is the consensus for a beauteous, romantic scene or traumatic, post break-up crying session. Either way, this serves as an apt, accompanying backdrop. And for this reason, expect Brendan's appeal to sky-rocket ten-fold in weeks alone to come.
