Biffy Clyro - 'The Ideal Height' (Beggars Banquet)

Biffy Clyro - 'The Ideal Height'

Currently the UK's most tough-to-calculate/tag rock-act, Biffy Clyro make up for sheer oddity in tirelessly unpredictable song-structuring and arrangements that border on 'pretentious', but never make the full beard-stroking leap to the dark side, namely thanks to an awkward angst that might upset your grandmother.

... But if only your Nan was into tracks such as this; best played loud baby, 'The Ideal Height' proves that the Scottish threesome may not do 'radio-hit', but when guitars pulsate and churn so raggedly as this and veer off into paths not usually trodden, all whilst Simon Neil bellows quite so terrifyingly, gaining a mere 'chart-placement' suddenly doesn't seem a desirable attribute.
