Hundred Reasons - 'Ideas Above Our Station'

You've got to feel sorry for Aldershot. Long considered the kind of town where if a bomb hit it, it would be regarded as a major urban improvement, it's synonymous with boorish Squaddies, psychotic local youths and deep seated decay. Cultural contributions have certainly been few and far between, too. So, if any settlement in England's green and pleasant lands warranted the title of 'Home of Britain's best new band', surely it would be Aldershot, deserving of a bit of positive press at long last.

Over the space of barely two years, Hundred Reasons have come roaring out of Surrey and into the nation's stereos, carrying with them a reputation as one of the most incendiary live acts this nation has to offer. Their long-awaited debut LP, 'Ideas Above Our Station', comprises twelve bursts of hugely memorable tunes and intense, raw energy, serving to the nation's youth possibly the most exciting guitar-record of 2002.

Kicking off with the superb former-single, 'I'll Find You', the relentless intensity and zeal with which HR go about the work serves a timely reminder to any number of woefully insincere US-angst bands as to what real ROCK is all about, the album only slowing down for the tender-rock of 'Falter' and final track, 'Avalanche'. Honestly, there's little surprise in-store for those that were sincerely expecting a first-rate inaugural-record.

So, barrack-dwellers elsewhere beware: it could be your town next.
