Before last year, the concept of high profiles shed on bluesy garage-rock duos seemed as likely as Liam Gallagher penning a credible, number-one hit-single. Yet, wonderful world of rock 'n' roll that we live in, both events occurred, even if blisteringly unexpectedly.
But let's not lump The Black Keys' soulful, trad. r 'n' b in with any of their contemporaries (cough - White Stripes - cough) - this is stomping, cutesy-wootsy vocals-a-blarin', porch-a-hangin', distorto-groove-punk. That just so happens to be performed by a duo. Lest it be remembered - music was never meant to be a numbers-game.
