Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - 'We're All In Love' (Virgin)
2/5

Listening to 'We're All In Love' and one struggles to pinpoint that particular quality that served to marauder the souls and possess the bodies of a crowd in rapture during Reading 2002.
Yes, the moody brooding and the darkness of the guitar-lines are still there, as is the sleazy, prowling bass, but there is little of the rebel to them with this, another BRMC-trademark song. Dismantle the morass of uncomplicated rhythms and wishy-washy lyrics that form the dishevelled exterior of the funereal three, and you are left with a resonance that not even the pages of the lauding fashion-mags will be able to hype into a hit.
Sadly, all this needs is a 'Shee-inee' or a 'Mad for it' and it could be an outtake from the 'Definitely Maybe' sessions. Yet, whereas Oasis rehashed a lot of old rock and roll principles, ripping off a band that is known for ripping off bands just isn't cool. Not this time at least. A rare off-day, we presume.
