The Bluetones - 'Fast Boy' / 'Liquid Lips' (Superior Quality)

Whilst cynics will soon say no such thing as evolution for Hounslow adorables The Bluetones (actually, they already have... - Cynical, Small-minded Press-Watch Ed) with their latest single to date, the double A-side 'Fastboy'/'Liquid Lips', fans in the meantime will know the truth - that this two-pronged re-entry to the indie-charts is as stripped-back and sultry as the tireless four-piece get.
Currently proving their status as one of the UK's hardest working bands, the quirky quartet are mid-way through a 50-date (go on, count 'em) British jaunt that sees them gracing everywhere from Ullapool to Penzance (of course...), and it's tough to envisage either of these tracks dying a death any of those nights. More akin to a US act of the recent new rock 'n' roll resurgence than their own back-catalogue, drug-addled ode 'Fastboy' grunts 'Come on' amidst defiant, chugging riffs, whilst 'Liquid Lips' infectiously rips off Primal Scream's 'Rocks' in the most polite way imaginable.
Years down the line, and even now The Bluetones remain an easily misunderstood commodity. You wouldn't have it any other way.
