Brassy - 'Play Some D'

Brassy were a most unfortunate of musical constituents when they first arrived upon the scene. Led by Muffin - the sister of Jon Spencer - and purveyors of a naggingly repetitive Elastica-cum-Beck hybrid which earnt more support-slots than record-sales, it was with the recent placement of their 'Play Some D' single - as originally released in 2000 - on a Motorola sales-campaign that their plight for success finally seemed to have been fulfilled in some part.

Resultantly, what we're faced with is all we had back then - an organ-based, cheeky number akin to Collapsed Lung's one-hit-wonder, 'Eat My Goal' - i.e. completely sound-bite based, and no less instantly adorable. Just a pity it could never progress beyond that, really; but with the band making an imminent return with their second album, perhaps the band's chance to shine and prove there was more to them than a catchy refrain all along will reign prevalent.
