A - 'Starbucks' (London)
4/5
By: Matt Tomiak

He may sound like Sting, look like Bernard Sumner and cite The Jam as his fave all-time group, but Jason Perry and A's sound is 2002 all over. 'Starbucks', an ode to having the greatest job in the world (being in a band, natch), is sugar-coated, good-time punk-pop at its very finest.
Ironically, though, despite the huge attention this is set to garner for the group, A have been making records as strong as this for years - but they just haven't been given the audience they warrant. 'I Love Lake Tahoe', by rights, should have been 1999's biggest alternative summer anthem, but was deprived of the radio-airplay it so richly deserved. Thankfully, things have changed, and now the A train's started rolling, there's no stopping it. Just you try and hold yourself back from joining in with their choruses after a listen or two.
