Presumably, Cave ain't expecting a chart-rattler with his latest.
Though as arguably relevant and chillingly brilliant as ever, the commercial mainstream seems to have once again escaped his Australian claws. But, for the fans, comes an extreme benefit - a four-tracked new 45, clad with the heart-sinking silkiness and beauty of all-out ballad, 'He Wants You' and organ-spliced and diced, rollicking party tune for zombies, 'Babe, I'm On Fire', his most ludicrously outrageous moment to date (and that's saying something).
The previously unreleased 'Little Ghost Song', meanwhile, is much in a vein to its sombre lead-tune, hushed vox and paced piano a contrast to the closing mid-tempo gospel of a harmony-ridden 'Everything Must Converge'.
A classy package. Not that we expected anything less from such a tirelessly brilliant veteran.
