Cornershop - 'Staging'

The following will contain a few words that will be enough to make any self-respecting music fan with even the vaguest memories of 'Blue Peter' run for the hills...

You see, this gem of a single features the appearance of not only a glockenspiel (scared yet?), but also, a hefty children's choir. Sounds decidedly like a primary school music project, yes? But halt your speedy getaway my friend - this might well be the best indie-single of the summer.

Never ones to tamper with a winning formula, the second single from Cornershop's well received 'Hand Cream For A Generation' LP is hardly light years away from anything they've previously recorded, but it definitely gives the common cold a run for its money in turns of catchiness, (and you can safely count it as a crime that people can shamelessly walk around in public not singing this song).

'Going into hell to get some people out,' sings Tjinder in his comfortingly lethargic style in the song's second line. Although it's seemed like the Devil has had the best tunes for a while, if Cornershop are leading a train out of the darkness into something as gorgeous as this, then only a fool would refuse to come along for the ride.
