Crackout - 'I Am The One' (Hut)

4/5

By: Toby L

Crackout - 'I Am The One'Crackout opted out of releasing potential last single 'Volume' in preference for this one; and with good reason.

'I Am The One' is a searing pop-rock anthem, complete with all the musical counterparts that allow such material to aloft itself to the top half of the top-40 - that is to say a reasonably dumb and sing-a-long chorus ('I am the one/That comes undone'), catchy guitar refrains (in this case, reminiscent of those backing-tracks which accompany children's early-morning TV-shows) and a gloriously fun animated video. As if that wasn't enough, you even get a rocked-up, semi-ironic cover-version of Kelis' 'Caught Out There' on the B-side.

They've spent the last two years touring relentlessly and releasing singles, as well as their debut-LP 'This Is Really Neat'; now, surely, this must be the time for them to crack out of relative rock-obscurity and into the mainstream-market?
