The Crescent - 'On The Run' (Hut)
3/5

Wait... I know that song... Actually, I think I know both of those songs...

Yes, you shan't be banished to the Land Of Unfair Comparisons if you're able to state the two numbers that this one single from The Crescent - their debut offering - is able to conjure up in a four and a half minute listen... Ahem. 'Born To Be Wild' and 'Satisfaction' are the key titles.
But, still, what with the current back-to-the-old-school musical approach in the UK, as adopted by those looking to the past for influences such as The Coral, The Music and other bands from the north that begin with 'The', maybe The Crescent's funky, upbeat and highly groovy rock is just what the kids want. And, if it is what the kids want, then maybe teenagers are growing up too quickly these days.
Treat with caution: this is a competent enough beginning, though the group's future has to hold a more coherent and forward-thinking set of dynamics if the quartet want to stay afloat in the rocky waters of the present-day music-industry.
