The Crescent - 'Spinnin' Wheels' (Hut)

3/5

By: Toby L

'Do you see what I see,' bellows frontman of The Crescent, Wayne Whitfield, in this, the Liverpudlians' third single to date, 'Spinnin' Wheels'. And it doesn't take a fool to observe that he means whatever he's on about.

The Crescent

For The Crescent don't mark a band of innovation, nor gross musical subversion - instead, their arrival is to install excitement, energy and youthful, exuberant passion, and - resultantly - their northern heritage will most likely get the Oasis-fans tapping a foot, whilst appealing to a whole new generation of swaggering indie-fans. Yet, underneath the glitzy guitars, occasionally infectious hooks and yelling vocals, what remains is a formula tried and tested by the greats before them - little new, ideas few.

So, whilst The Crescent don't promise to revolutionise the world as we see it, at least they batter out a couple of smile-inducing belters to make the mundanities of life that bit more bearable.
