The D4 - 'Rock 'N' Roll Motherf**ker' (Infectious)

3/5

By: Toby L

The D4

'Garage-rock' this is tentatively described as.

Already, the fear that The Hives' recent attempts at world-domination with such a similar sound allow you to think that acts like The D4 are merely rising in status due to their sound luckily coming across as similar to the aforementioned Swedes. Yet, although a similar passion and vibrant energy is existent within this, their debut British single, The D4 seem to indicate towards a more traditional form of song-writing...

'Traditional,' you question? Yeah - as in the fifties-school of big riffs and competent rock 'n' roll scales and hooks; even the energetic B-side 'Running On Empty' captures the essence of Chuck Berry's original guitar-groove, successfully contributing a modern distorted edge to successfully shy away from that dreaded tag - 'retro'.

The D4 - 'Rock 'N' Roll Motherf**kers'? Oh, yes - in all the best ways possible.
