DM & Jemini - 'The Twenty Six Inch EP' (Lex)
4/5

Bo - the 'Twenty Six Inch EP' is the follow-up from DM & Jemini's critically acclaimed debut, 'Ghetto Pop Life'... And no, before you ask, Jemini has nothing to do with that crap 'no points' pop-schlock from Eurovision. In fact, one listen and you'll be ashamed you even thought it.
Featuring producer DM's new versions of two of the most popular tracks from their first album, 'What U Sittin On' sees the crew laying down some extremely deep bass; bass so deep, it's scuba. Rumblings like this could accidentally summon Parliament's mothership if they're not careful. Though not in the same vein as your mainstream pop-rap acts (a la Black Eyed Peas' latest works) - it's more underground and hardcore for that, yet still rump-shaking, funktastic, etc. And lyrically it's all bling, baby. 'Ghetto Pop Life II', meanwhile, sees a smoother DM & J, and it's so summertime you can almost hear a bit of War's 'Spill The Wine' in there and smell the daisies.
And even though many might refer to the pairing as 'underground', vibes this phat and funky can only lead DM & Jemini right up into the blaring, gleaming sunshine above.
