Dogs Die In Hot Cars - 'I Love You 'Cause I Have To' (Radiate)
4/5

A part of the same barmy school-of-thought as The Futureheads, Scotland's Dogs Die In Hot Cars have an enviable knack of blending the surreal, witty and melodic into a punchy, albeit embarrassingly straightforward, ensemble of recordings.
Yet they succeed succinctly all the more for it. Debut-single 'I Love You 'Cause I Have To' is a loveable, nagging ska-lite dashing of deadpan vocals, chipper guitars and lip-curving quips, fast, poppy and admirably unsure of its own self in the process.
No wonder the internal industry-hype; a few more of these such obscure, quirky indie-pop crossovers, and the 'Dogs may soon find themselves a vast spectrum of music-fans vying to become their owners.
