Echoboy - 'Good On TV'

For those about to rock in a really uneasy and bizarre way, we salute you none the less.

The music of Echoboy isn't something that caters for all tastes to say the least, but it's always a good place to come in search of the unexpected and leftfield. Whatever your opinion, there's no denying that the work of Richard Warren is rather unique.

'Good On TV' is a bitter and self-pitying song delivered with a confusing dose of conviction, packing his usual hefty punch with the use of keyboards, brass and what sounds like a host of softened church bells, furthering his quest to be the world's only purveyor of baroque-indie. Unsurprisingly perhaps, there's still something about Echoboy that doesn't quite fit, but he's getting there - it's the finest example yet of something that some of Mr Warren's previous compositions may have lacked - that being a really killer chorus.

Perhaps releasing a single about how you're not destined for fame for because you 'don't look good on TV' isn't the wisest move towards success in these days of pop pride and bravado. Despite his eccentricity, you'd get good odds on Echoboy being wrong about it all anyway.
