Earlimart - 'Burning The Cow' (HTI)
4/5
By: Toby L

Fancy that - Jason Lyttle of Grandaddy co-producing a similarly melodic, mildly twisted pop-coalition. Earlimart, as they're extolled, however, deserve no such thing as being overshadowed by noted allies.
Instead, they warrant being revered in their own right. Despite being a mere trio, their outlook extends beyond that of keys'n'guitars = winner; instead, they rock us gently with lead-track 'Burning The Cow', even ploughing us with a blissful noise-rock guitar-solo, and then sooth us out with an eerie, piano-based 'Interloper', easing this understated intro to an instrumental slumber, repetitious bells and understated organ galloping in unison within a hazy 'Untitled'.
From the fruits already free to pick, the hopeful hunch is that an album's worth of such material would make for a wonderful life-partner.
