The Electric Soft Parade - 'Lose Yr Frown' (BMG)
4/5
By: Thomas Hannan

Here we have it, the latest stage in The Electric Soft Parade's mission to thoroughly weird us out using as its means of deception, of all things, nothing more subversive and demonic than absolutely classic-pop songwriting not heard to such grand, psychedelic results since The Beatles fizzled out of existence.
What the bloody hell the fantastic 'Lose Yr Frown' is up to is frankly anyone's guess, inclusive of plinking keyboards, obscure time-signatures, both the very quirkiest and catchiest of choruses and a gutsy, prog-rock middle-section of positively pompous proportions so strong that, if already in a slightly less than steady state of consciousness, is enough to send you riding off in to the distance on a jet-powered pyramid. Yeah.
Honestly, what did you expect? In fact, if you've come to expect anything from these brothers White, then you've got the wrong end of the stick - the unpredictability of ESP's every move is in fact their essence. They're Sergeant Peppers' Lonely Punk Rock Band, and we love them all the more for it.
