Escapepod - 'Escapepod' (Rex Records)

3/5

By: Toby L

Escapepod - 'Escapepod'

With a sound that proves equally valid and entrancing on either 33RPM or 45RPM when this, Escapepod's debut 10"-only EP, is spinned, Rex Records have certainly delivered yet another act of peculiar merit for music-fans to devour graciously.

Knocking the concept of song-structures from here to Baghdad, instead, you get lyte, chimey-guitar offerings and piano-doused material which will most likely have you either tapping your foot to the insatiably rich meanderings of music here on offer - such as the compelling 'Tokens' and challenging opener, 'Meteor Attack - or scratching your head in an confused daze.

Whatever effect it casts upon the individual listener, in the space of just five tunes, Escapepod have proven themselves to be a positive, if jilted, new hope for the future.
