Foo Fighters - 'Generator' (Roswell)

4/5

By: Toby L

Foo Fighters - 'Generator'This is an interesting one. Featuring an enhanced CD section (meaning you can look at pretty pictures and things when you put the single into your D-drive), this limited edition release features a ten minute documentary of life in the studio during the making of the Foos' most commercial, but best album, 'There is Nothing Left To Lose'. The documentary is a collection of footage of the then-threesome f-ing and blinding and lead singer Dave protesting to get a packet of fags because he 'used to be in Nirvana'. It's amusing stuff and the exclusive photos that you can also see are quite interesting, though obviously more so to an obsessed fan.

Anyway, getting to the music; a storming rendition of third single from the album is 'Breakout', live in Scotland and a touchingly mellow 'Ain't it the Life', with added beauty thanks to the live acoustic, stripped down version brings about sweaty excitement, greatly complementing the poptastic, vocoder-rock lead tune. A classy affair, indeed.
