And not just warming, obscure lyrics - but plaintive, tinkling bells and beeping electronica, too, brought to the fore via shrivelled, cracking indie-vox. Wondrously - ex-Hefner butterflies The French are on to something quite winning, if not at all fierce. Yet their weak frames and snotty noses are altogether a mansion more lovable for it.
