Knowledgeable rock fans will immediately notice that the opening bars of this song are extremely familiar. Yes, almost too familiar... Your mind strikes through your own personal years of music-knowledge, attempting to find the artist and song-title which Gomez appear to sound remarkably alike for their comeback single, 'Shot Shot', their first following '99's 'Liquid Skin' LP. Then, all of a sudden...
A-HA, I'VE GOT IT!
Yes, it's Radiohead's 'National Anthem', from 2000's 'Kid A'. Still, for this quite obvious relation in sound, what Gomez have created is just as intriguing and special as the former's original effort. There's the achingly pretty chorus, rowdy in-between verse bits and the trademark sound which the 'Mez have built up so effortlessly and creatively, all housed in a rather short, though entirely complex track.
Seemingly, if this is an indication of where their new music is going, then if you're in your right mind, you'll want to go with them.
