Grandaddy - 'El Caminos In The West' (V2)

Grandaddy - 'El Caminos In The West'

Bearing the rare skill of blending sunny, Beach Boys loveliness with gruelling, distorted guitars and scratchy chord-changes more corresponding to a sleazy art-punk b-side, the 'Daddy demonstrate little evidence of evading their discordant, melodious-batterings this side of winter.

'El Caminos In The West' balances a craftily melodic chorus with lazy, hazy 'do-do-do's and still manages to sound, well, not naff. Maybe it's the enchanting, Young-evoking tones of vocalist Jason Lytle, but it still seems unlikely that Grandaddy's recurring pattern seems set to bore in any millennia soon-coming.
