Neil Halstead - 'Seasons EP' (4AD)
3/5
By: Matt Tomiak

We're told to never judge a book by its cover. However, in this case, it's justifiable to make an exception. 'Seasons'' sleeve, for instance, shows a butterfly above a montage of long grass blowin' in the wind. And, as far as pictorial-musical metaphors go, it's not far off.
So laid back it's virtually horizontal, Neil's dulcet whisper perfectly compliments the under-staged yet atmospheric tunes on offer in this, his latest EP, whose serenity in the lead-track is only enhanced by Fort Lauderdale's own remix of the tune at the mini-release's closure, other tunes merely and effortlessly enhancing the ambience even more-so.
Alluring, certainly - and just in time for the July sun as well.
