Hell Is For Heroes - 'You Drove Me To It' (Wishakismo)

4/5

By: Toby L

The snarling riffage and unmistakable guitar shudder is back from new band, Hell Is For Heroes, an act composed of scattered members of ye olde Symposium and other young beatniks.

Hell Is For Heroes

Yet to release their debut album still - in fact, HIFH are just at the early stages of recording the as yet untitled LP - this is their second single, and, despite rather simple production, showcases a punchy ability for notching up a memorable melody and a track you'll urge yourself to hear multiple times; sure, the Rage Against The Machine similarities in the heavy and firm rhythm-section combined with the accessible vocals allow it to edge close to conventional commercial rock, though you can't help feeling there's something about this act that's slightly more exciting than the norm.

For the moment, it appears that the Heroes are achieving what many critics have been expecting of them - and let's hope they continue so strongly in this vein.
