The Hives - 'Hate To Say I Told You So'

Following the releases of 'Main Offender' and 'Supply & Demand' in the UK - two heavy, furious, fast-paced sound-bites that would soon go on to epitomise their sound for the British audience and allow them to sell out their debut London performances - The Hives return with 'Hate To Say I Told You So': their most commercial track to date.

The faultless fusion of traditional rock 'n' roll riffs and manic, though tame drumming and the obligatory provocative frontman may hark back to the formula of a Brit-Beat guitar-band from the 60's, but the energy, modern sound-effects and synths thrown in at the dramatic closure signifies a groove not of the world's current orbit.

Suitably, what with so many great new acts emerging at the moment, we truly hate to say we told you so - but The Hives have got what it takes to be massive.
