Jane's Addiction - 'Just Because' (Capitol)

Essential listening, if only out of sheer curiosity, is the recorded re-emergence of 80's classic free-form rock-clowns, Jane's Addiction.
Yet, 'Just Because', shamefully, sounds just like any other band thrown together today; ironic, that the ghost of JA's past has come back to haunt its eventual incarnation... An iconic band, inspiring its future self, as it were, but never sounding as monumental in the process.
Not to say that it's all totally invalid - spiralling guitars, courtesy of the ever-angular Dave Navarro, and Perry Farrell's still-alluring wail ensure that the product never crosses the 'dirge' border of proceedings, though - from a landmark group such as the 'Addiction - surely there was always more to the puzzle than this...?
