Kapitahl:a - 'Keep The Faith' (Kitchenware)
3/5
By: Clara Burtenshaw

In a fair world, void of the marketing which so readily manipulates the record-buying public, innovation and experimentation would be rewarded in accordance with talent and merit, and Kapitahl:a would be ranked alongside Joy Division, Television, Pink Floyd and Baba O' Reilly Who (according to the PR, at least).
Unfortunately, as any striving musician will complain, breaking the market with a unique sound in these times of copious style over substance is near to impossible. Juxtaposing Pet Shop Boys and Numan, 'Keep The Belief' blends the sounds of the bands that influenced Kapitahl:a twenty years earlier. They will no doubt be talked about in the same excited hushed tones by groups of black polar-necked and bespectacled arty kids, but let's hope the music reaches a wider audience. For, with the right exposure behind them, Kapitahl:a could go far indeed.
