The Kickovers - 'Fake In Love'

Proving that there's more to life than just being mere ex-members in The Mighty Mighty Bosstones and Weezer, Nate Albert teamed up with Mikey Welsh (and newcomer Johnny Rioux) to form The Kickovers: the US' latest pop-punk trio capable of creating lyrics that hardly take a mastermind to calculate their formation - take the lead-track's 'I just wanna take you home and smoke a cigarette' sentiment for evidence of this - and conjuring a polite racket that your parents will probably still like.

Main tune 'Fake In Love' simply shivers with fresh and sparky appeal, only slowing down to make way for the equally exuberant flipside, 'Don't Look Down', altogether promising a debut-release with enough bite and dishevelled class to pave the way for a valid and energetic career. They may be entitled The Kickovers, but these guys seem pretty firm-in-place for the time being.
