The Libertines - 'Don't Look Back Into The Sun' (Rough Trade)
5/5
By: Toby L

Amidst vocalist Peter Doherty's recent public troubles, it's been a tale of tragedy and heartbreak of late, but The Libertines' saga continues bravely and as testimonial as ever, with the emergence of the band's most classic-sounding, finest single yet.
A throbbing, dual-guitar attack, a shared vocal-smattering from Doherty and Barat, a punchy, yelping chorus and an unsubtle sense of euphoric grandeur and timeless songwriting masterclass about the whole deal, and 'Don't Look Back Into The Sun' can be officially heralded an instant classic.
Backed with a savage re-recording of the band's much-favoured LP-track 'Death On The Stairs' and the scraping charm of 'Skint & Minted', the potential, enduring importance of the 'Tines seems to accelerate in magnitude with every passing second. Pray it continues.
