Linkin Park - 'Somewhere I Belong' (Warner)
3/5
By: Toby L

Dangerous terrain, boys, very dangerous.
Linkin Park - the US of A's most inoffensive metal sextet of a generation - have returned with their long-awaited new single. And, terrifyingly, it's precisely alike the matter featured on their debut, 13-million selling record, 'Hybrid Theory'.
Yes, sure, 'Somewhere I Belong' is competent enough - the grandiose choruses, the rage of pubescent angst from Chester Bennington, the suspect 'rap' segments, etc. - but when markets in music shift faster than booming house-prices, 'steady evolution' is sometimes not a candidate for 'continued ascension'. Be careful, guys.
