Longwave - 'Pool Song' (Hummer)

4/5

By: Toby L

Longwave - 'Pool Song'

A further New York act currently rising though the ranks and providing enough strong material to drop open mouths and produce compelling live-performances, Longwave's second discreet single on low-key label Hummer Recordings is 'Pool Song': by anyone's accounts, a simultaneous tribute to former touring-partners The Strokes, and a track so impenetrably melodic and infectious that if its joyous, uplifting guitar won't allow you to collapse in beautiful serenity, then Steve Schiltz' endearing croak certainly shall.

With this suitably providing a deceptive introduction to the group for many, if you want to absorb the Longwave experience in full, you can either wait for the debut-LP - released at the start of 2003 - or, advisably, check them out at a venue near you soon to become awash in a sound that could deservedly dominate the twelve months ahead.
