Manic Street Preachers - 'Masses Against The Classes' (Epic)

5/5

By: Toby L

Manic Sreet Preachers - 'Masses Against The Classes'Their only new recording of 1999, released in 2000 and it's predictably a cracker. Though they return to their rockier roots, you can't help assuming that it's only a reaction to their critical backlash for 'selling out', only because they became successful. Whatever the inspiration for cutting this tune, 'Masses Against the Classes' is a mouth-frothing anthem for all dysfunctional members of society.

And coupled with the b-sides (a more sedate and wondrous 'Close My Eyes') plus playful cover of Chuck Berry's 'Rock and Roll Music', you can't do anything but wish that their new album would be released in a quicker time than planned.
