Massive Attack - 'Butterfly Caught' (Virgin)

Now that Massive Attack MD, 3D, has been cleared of the bizarre, recent allegations dogging the legitimacy of his computer's mother-board, at last, we can forget the tabloid field-days and assess his premier musical concern's latest offering.
Except 'Butterfly Caught' isn't manically different from the last one. Or the one before that.
Inevitable it was then, that with the departure of two of MA's two co-formers that we'd find Bristol's foremost dance/trip-hop collective stuck in a groove. And this is one, long, continual, hypnotic groove - pulsating, dark, brooding, with eerie atmospherics and the occasional vocal-whimper.
It ain't 'Unfinished Sympathy', that's for sure. But it's a darn sight more welcoming than half of their contemporaries, even this far down the line.
