Mclusky - 'There Ain't No Fool In Ferguson' (Too Pure)
3/5
By: Toby L

A single-release to bridge the gap between the commercial re-release of their rough-as-f**k debut-LP and their presently-being-recorded third album (as almost fully manufactured with Steve Albini in Illinois), Welsh fruit-cakes Mclusky are back.
Shame it's not their best material to date. But, being Mclusky, it's still great, in an ear-piercing, 'what-the-hell-is-this' kinda way. Lead-track 'There Ain't...' is their insanest moment yet - all hip-hop suggestive rhythmic-patterns and lyrics name-checking monobrows and sexually-transmitted conditions. 'Hymn For New Cars', meanwhile, is an inane, slow thump that compels for its mere irreverence.
Hardly easy-listening, that's for sure - but we never wanted them to be.
