My Red Cell - 'My Red Cell' (V2)
3/5
By: Toby L

Hailing the hand of engineer Liam Watson and his legendary Toerag Studios, Welsh rockers My Red Cell are both possessive of the urgent, drunken terror that ignites Newport or Cardiff on a Saturday night, and simultaneous melodic-acumen that spawns the rock-greats.
For, just as you (erroneously) predict the direction of EP lead-track 'She's Leaving' - a pouting, charging stomp - suddenly, the drums harden, guitars grind and band-vocalist are injected with a frolicsome, giddy potion of paranoid-stupor; angst noisenik Steve Albini would be proud. Coupled with the lower-key, keys-aided '50 Quid', thundering build-ups and yells of 'Dedication' and sheer heavy-metal of 'Today', MBC are - clearly - f**king relentless. And with this ferocious greeting, they have every reason to be.
