My Vitriol - 'Grounded' (Infectious)

4/5

By: Toby L

My Vitriol - 'Grounded'The British media has been torn apart by this act: their shows have sometimes been dismissed as 'pure noise', with their album claimed by some to head towards greatness, but veering off at the last minute by the addition of unnecessary instrumentals. Therefore, My Vitriol haven't become as quite as essential in the eyes of the press as some had tipped them to be.

But, if they were so appalling, then how come they're able to gain more and more fans with every single release? Maybe the reason behind this is - as with many other strong and successful bands - their talent lies within the ability to pen great A-sides. And, if that is the case, then 'Grounded' should certainly be counted as evidence as that.

The chorus - oh, the chorus - has a soaring majesty to it which begs a big solo to follow it - and that's what's delivered, all in under three minutes, providing an instant radio-friendly sound that should see them set for another top-40 hit. As suggested before in a live review by rockfeedback, My Vitriol may still have to do a bit more work until they get to where they want to be, but, once they're there, no doubt we'll all want to be in the same place as them.
