Parva - 'Hessles'

A Leeds-based group destined, if there is a saviour above us, to rise to further stature, Parva are back with their latest single-release, the quite truly exhilarating head-rush of 'Hessles'.

A standout from their typically fiery live-performances, the lead-track is a stellar set of well-timed freak-outs and dart-abouts from the heavy grittiness of the Foo Fighters to the sexier stomp of all those currently residing Stateside and making a living quite amply from the present-day scene; justifiably, as soon as frontman Ricky bellows with worrying sincerity, 'I'm outta my head' - you'd be inclined to agree.

But that ain't it, folks; you know a great band when you hear one when the b-sides stack up as strongly as the matter featured up-front as tune-one. With the frothy cheekiness of 'Put Me On The Cover Of Your Magazine', the quintet bounce their way through a leather-jacket themed, r 'n' r anthem mocking the media whilst turning a bit Specials-y on us for the early-80s compulsion of '1 AKA'.

Truly, this is a band where the term 'unpredictable' applies to every one of their compositions - and we can't stress how much this marks a valued change.
