The Raveonettes - 'That Great Love Sound' (Columbia)
4/5
By: Toby L

Whilst susceptible in the past to criticisms of stubborn singularity - partly self-inflicted, via their own insistence to perform only three chords on their entire, lo-fi 'Whip It On' mini-LP - Danish duo The Raveonettes have returned with their most airy, breezy, overt pop-single to date.
And, like before, although 'That Great Love Sound' musters the dingy resonance of BRMC or The Mary Chain, there's a rounded, melodious ebullience that seems so, frankly, un-British. For that, and their ever-sexy, pouting arty presentation and sassy promo-flicks, they deserve righteous commendation. And sweaty knickers thrown in their direction.
