The Reindeer Section - 'You Are My Joy' (Bright Star)
3/5

If you're in a Scottish indie band, chances are you're represented in The Reindeer Section.

With membership nearing 30, it doesn't matter if you're a morose mumbler (Aidan Moffat of Arab Strap), an alt-pop songsmith (Colin MacIntyre, Mull Historical Society's frontman) or a purveyor of sonic post-rock (Mogwai's John Cummins), there's room for you all on the good ship HMS Reindeer. (The captain, oddly, is none other than Gary Lighthouse of Snow Patrol - ironically, representative of perhaps the least well-known band involved).
Unsurprisingly, due to the amount of creative talent on-board, their latest single, 'You Are My Joy' is a straightforward but heart-warming mini-gem, full of the bright-eyed romanticism that so many Scottish groups, such as the ones on show here, have made their forte. Marvel at their music, then - and then marvel at their grand size afterwards.
