Like alt-chick contemporary Gemma Hayes, Carina Round is intent on mustering the idyllic, drama-rock crossover - and attempts graciously with big, donging bells on.
With 'Into My Blood', she's dutifully successful - ringing guitars, angsty white-noise, with wails that PJ Harvey would lick those luscious lips of hers to. Bleak, wildly over-the-top, yet with a grace and charm - and, dare it be suggested, a jazz-like timelessness - that suggests Round will be keeping us on the edge of our seats for some years yet. And, Christ, would you guess she's from Wolverhampton?
