Scout Niblett - 'I'll Be A Prince' (Too Pure)
4/5
By: Samantha Hall

It's that combination of sexual frustration vs. genuine innocence that makes Scout Niblett so special; like a lamenting woodland nymph, then - in a second taking - the juvenile, pouty qualities of a sultry Marilyn Monroe.
Niblett's is an altogether rewarding ability to take on a boisterous, 'uncollected' role (just drums, guitars 'n' vox) similar to antifolk genre-pal Kimya Dawson (aka Moldy Peaches), while maintaining her in some distorted sense: graceful grotesqueness, if you will. 'I'll Be A Prince' is so simplistic, it has a barely-there skeletal backbone. Seemingly fractured and unstructured, but just so powerful in its understatement.
