Short Break Operator - 'EP'

For some, timing is everything - that the potential of one's career is built firmly upon an obedient adherence to a scene, whether by the means of a correlating dress-sense, or some distinguishable sound-trademark happily carried off and treated as an 'original' piece of work.

Short Break Operator, or James Chapman if you're gonna get personal, couldn't be further detached from the notion of good 'timing', therefore. After all - any man that starts his career off with a chillingly soulful subtlety of music such as 'Some Winter Song' and choosing to release it in the hottest spring for f**king years, must be a mad-man. But, if so, it's such an overriding eccentricity that leads to this level of instant beauty; amidst the lead-track itself, imagine a less sound-bite-craving Aqualung messing around with a bunch of low-budget circuitry, and you're just a few metres off the mile.

Escalating the wizardry and melodious melancholy in a wondrous, strings-laden 'This Transmission' and serenading 'Take Route / Point Odinsve' - a composition alike Lemon Jelly, minus the kiddie-theatrics - and you've gained yourself one of the underground releases of the first year quarter.
