Snow Patrol - 'Spitting Games' (Black Lion)

4/5

Snow Patrol - 'Spitting Games'

Typical, just when you're waiting for one brilliant band to come along, hundreds turn up at once. Snow Patrol had the misfortune to be lumped in with such an exciting bunch that through no fault or deficiency of their own, they were somewhat overlooked. Whilst the other bandwagons filled up and whizzed on their merry way, The Patrol are wisely taking their time rounding up recruits. If you hurry, you can probably still grab a seat.

Really, there's no reason not to. 'Spitting Games' is the kind of My Bloody Valentine come Lemonheads luminosity you spend most of your time wishing would come along - each section of this delightful ode the potential saving-grace chorus in another band's lesser composition.

Saving them all for 'Spitting Games' was definitely the right move though, as each sumptuous and wistful melody just adds to its oh so charming allure. There's no frustration in trying to figure out what it is you enjoy about Snow Patrol as it's there staring you right in the face. Simply, great songs will always triumph.
