Span - 'Found' (Universal-Island)
3/5
By: Clara Burtenshaw

'Found' is a slick, three-song taster of a band at the forefront of the Scandinavian rock faction, an unobvious movement seemingly ever-evolving.
Yoking together the sounds of the old-school and more modern reverberations, this is music fit to place Span alongside the stadium-rockers who presumably influence them. So, yes, 'Found' is a reasonably Aerosmith kind of affair, complete with powerful vocals reminiscent of a seventies Steve Tyler - an anthemic tune that surges and ebbs, driven on by striking drum-beats and rousing guitars that churn and grind.
'Mental Surgery', on the other hand, is a fast-paced paean to the ubiquitous Lon York sound, but Span's pounding rhythms stand head and shoulders above the mediocre rest. Intricate and catchy guitar-licks are followed by a command to 'Turn on your radio, turn up your radio'. And, as long as such matter as this is featured on there, we suggest you do so immediately.
