The Strokes - 'Someday' (Rough Trade)

One of the more endearing tracks from The Strokes' mega-selling, hugely influential and cataclysmically vital debut-LP, 'Is This It', was 'Someday' - now given its inevitable placement as the group's latest single, and final 45, from the current album.
A summer-time tune with enough chiming hooks and gentle charm to emboss a transfixed smile on even the most downtrodden of characters, it's made all the more alluring as a package for the b-sides, too: original home-recordings of the band's 'Alone, Together' and 'Is This It'. And, whilst the latter two don't present themselves as obvious, forthright indications towards enduring greatness, they showcase the original spark and zesty appeal that allowed everyone's favourite NYC quintet to become the most essential US act for the last ten years.
With this being your last Strokes action until the new album - which is a good year away, at least - you know what to do, and that's to make do with this on constant loop... Hmm, you could certainly do a lot worse.
