Tetra Splendour - 'Pollen Fever' (EMI)

3/5

By: Toby L

The dreamy guitars and driven vocals indicate in this, the single 'Pollen Fever', towards an emerging act that has the potential to be capable of special things.

Tetra Splendour

Tetra Splendour, after all, are new signings to mega-label EMI:Chrysalis - and this track serves as fine evidence to explain why. Following a gradual build-up, the grandiose harmonies, hungry singing and high-throttle guitars kick in almost at once, creating not so much of an anthem as a thrilling listen.

This could be one potential drawback for some, though - the lack of a memorable chorus. Still, with ever-changing music styles and an audience that's more open-minded than ever, hopefully such an issue will be as irrelevant as the necessity to struggle and compare them to another band.

Guitarist Peter of the group commented that their music was their one-way ticket out of mind-numbingly stagnant town Porthcawl in South Wales - and he's right: Tetra Splendour deserve to live in a place that will accept and cherish their distinctive range of indie-rock blues.
